New Construction in Dilworth

I've been working with a sweet, sweet family over the past year on their custom built home. They were friends before I was their designer, and I'm so honored that they chose me to be there with them every step of the way. Of course, they had a great builder in Sixteen Penny Construction, and it was a pleasure to work with another great company in the area on this project.

We wanted to add contemporary flair where possible, while making the rooms functional and practical for a young, growing family. We are still in the process of adding furnishings and finishing touches to several rooms, but I wanted to share some of the photos of their beautiful home following its completion in August.  "F" Family, it was truly a blast working with you. I hope your new home is as much fun to live in as it was to create!

Laundry Room Makeover

I've been working with a client on a laundry room/mudroom remodel. They wanted to have a more functional (and beautiful) laundry space as well as more cabinet storage, lockers for all of those backpacks, shoes, etc. When we started the project, they were expecting a baby in just a couple of months, so we needed to make the most of our time. (The project included demolishing a wall, or at least part of it, and raising the laundry room floor to the level of the mudroom.)

I started by taking a few photos and measuring the space. Here is the before:

I hand-drew a plan for the cabinetry and the lockers. The cabinetry experts turned it into this:

Then, we got busy selecting floor tile, countertops, a backsplash, cabinet style, cabinet color and hardware. Last but not least, paint and plumbing. Here are a few photos taken during cabinet installation:

And here is the finished product! Doesn't this room just make you want to do laundry?
